Duties of the Dog Control Officer
The Dog Control Officer is responsible for enforcing dog control laws and related town and state regulations. Duties include:
- Securing dogs found at large
- Issuing appearance tickets for failure to license dogs
- Investigating reports of abandoned animals
- Investigating cases of animal cruelty or neglect
- Handling dangerous dog complaints and enforcement actions
- Enforcing applicable New York State Agriculture & Markets Laws
- Enforcing the Town of Greenwood Dog Control Ordinance
