Role of the Town Supervisor
The Town Supervisor serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the town, similar in function to a city or village mayor. The Supervisor is an elected official serving a four-year term.
The Supervisor presides over the Town Board, which is composed of four elected councilpersons plus the Supervisor. Together, the Town Board is responsible for:
- Adoption of the annual town budget
- Adoption of local laws, resolutions, and legislative actions
- Enforcement and execution of Town Board decisions
Financial and Administrative Responsibilities
The Supervisor works with a Budget Officer and Bookkeeper/Payroll Clerk to:
- Prepare and recommend the annual town budget
- Produce financial reports and supporting documentation for Town Board actions
- Provide financial information needed for decision-making
- Recommend amendments to the Town Code and local ordinances when necessary
Day-to-Day Operations
The Town Supervisor:
- Oversees and manages day-to-day town government operations
- Coordinates administrative functions of town government
- Meets with residents to discuss concerns, issues, and community matters
- Helps ensure town services and policies are properly implemented
